Ivan Belov’s creativity started with graffiti in his home town of Vyksa, Russia in 2006. He later moved to Nizhniy Novgorod and started hanging out with local street artists. 2013 is the year when Ivan began working in abstract geometric style both on the streets and on paper inspired by Suprematism and Minimalism of 60th and 70th. These two art movements had a significant impact on the artist’s visual language. Simple forms and colors of various objects along with stunning geometrical precision play a major role in Ivan’s artwork. All figures are depicted in a very rigorous manner. The location determines the shape. It could be a deserted house or construction site for instance. Usually Ivan works in monochrome. “All my artistic activities are mainly focused on recognizing the physical and environmental phenomena and the frequency of their occurrence.” — says Ivan.
